Thanks Bobby. Honestly, I wouldn't know. Sports photography is not my thing. A friend owns a Supercross team so I have visited his races and shot some pics from the stands. I was just trying to demonstrate to Hyram that the 6D is capable camera for fast sports in crappy light. Perhaps not ideal, but capable.

I love the shots. I should have my 6d next week.

Is it composite or just one shot?

Thanks Luta. Servo tracking? One or all focus points?

I always have camera in: AI Servo, Continuous (6D is slow enough that you can get one shot control with quick press), back button auto-focus, and single focus point (point varies depending on compo). I use this setting almost always even though 75% of my shots are stills/landscapes.

Also, If I do happen to be shooting an event or sport, I will use the excellent high ISO performance of the 6D to my advantage. I will set the camera to Auto-ISO with a minimum shutter speed of, say, 1/250. Then I will set the Auto ISO range to between 200 and 12,500. I then place the camera in Aperture Priority and go to town. It doesn't matter how light conditions change as I move around or the event lighting changes, the camera will not take the shutter below 1/250 and will let the ISO 'float' around as needed below 12,500. I control only the Aperture and just keep my focus on hitting targets with the active focus point. It is fast and accurate and keeps me from fumbling around with the camera throughout the event. Keeper rates are awesome and all photos in-focus are usable in that range.

Nchant- Killer shot!

Same location? Can you see stars at that location with the naked-eye with that much city light pollution? Do you pull all that out with the camera exposure? I would love to try that but I cant see hardly any stars ever because of all the light pollution from our city.

Yup can see all the stars there :) I can see and shoot the MW from my house, which is 20km closer to the city than that shot was - this is the MW above my house from Aug last year (taken with 600D): http://www.flickr.com …/in/set-72157631001528726 (external link)

I think Auckland just has great clear skies, the light pollution does get frustrating at times, but you don't need to go far - I never travel more than 40 mins from home to get these shots :)

Depends on focal length, at 105mm even 10 seconds is too long. At 16mm (on FF) I don't usually go over 25 as trailing does become noticeable? Next time I will ask the stars to pause for a bit ;) :D
