New recent wedding I shot here in Houston, which had one of the best receptions I've shot. More can be seen on the blog (external link) if you're interested!

I had to make a few of the photos into links because of the image posting limit. Just click the links to see the images!

so Theo you use Nikon and posted on Canon forums? :D
You do beautiful work. Mind me asking you, how did you break into wedding photography? Did you shoot for free for a while to build your portfolio first?

Hey Theo--what's you're setup in the last shot, if you don't mind my asking. I see both an umbrella on the left (or think I do..) and I see on-cam direct lighting via the shadow on the arm.

Awesome shots. How do you get that look in the dancing photos? The subject is in focus but it almost looks like a slow shutter speed for everything else.

That would be rear curtain sync, shooting probably around 1/20 sec.

Don't mind at all! I set up two speedlights through a shoot through on either side of the dance floor, at 1/16 power if i remember correctly. i had an on camera flash, set at the couple with the cheap little plastic diffuser the flash came with, shooting TTL.

guilty as charged, haha. thanks for the kind words! i broke into wedding photography by offering to assist other established photographers for a few weddings, who eventually took me on as a second. i shot around 12 weddings as a second before venturing off on my own, so that i could be sure i would have the confidence and ability to properly cover a wedding. i still regularly second with a few photographers, which is always a lot of fun since all you have to worry about is getting cool photos!

I will have to keep that set up in mind for a wedding I am shooting next month. I think that this could solve many of the issues I was worrying about for the late evening reception. What lens were you shooting the dance shots with?

The dance shots were shot with a 35mm 1.4G (nikon)

Theo, your images are good, just post under the 1024x1024 restrictions in the IMAGES POSTING RULES. I linked the images over, but you can repost them resized.
