60D users, friends and their random OT B.S. (II)

I've tried to DL Magic Lantern a few times, but I could never get it to download properly.

I gave up on it, and figured I didn't need it because I was okay with my 60D without it.

yeah I've seen very little chat about Magic Lantern in the 60D in the past yr... there was a good amount of chat about it a yr ago though.... but the main improvements ML brings are expanded/improved features in Video... and its rare anymore we get folks posting 60D video... which is interesting because 50D and 7D users and critics all round so often claimed the 60D was mainly a video DSLR... but I digress...

I'm trying to find anyone who has used the center 5 AF point array and get their impressions as to how it works on BIF... not much info on google so I may have my answer

Really enjoying the Sigma 70-200 OS

When people say it to me, I usually just smile or say thank you. I don't want to seem snobby.

I think thats a good idea. Who cares? They dont know what they're saying.

Went out shooting tonight and tried something a little different than what I usually do with my post.

Installed Magic Lantern on my 60D.

Again.

95% of the reason is to try BIF with the center focus pattern (5 active AF points including center) - which 'may' resemble the new 70D center array.... although... likely not

But its been a year or so and am willing to try AI Servo again with it...

I may soon be reminded why I deleted ML previously

yeah the thing is - when someone compliments our photos by saying we have a nice camera - they mean it as a compliment - albeit they are ignorant of any skill of composition, settings of shutter/aperture/focus and post processing...

If we photogs reply with "you must have a great oven/stove/etc" - we come across as distinctly rude. And I can understand why. Basically we are taking offence much more than we should. Its an ignorance issue on their part - nothing more.

Our reply should be courteous with a thank-you - but gently educate them instead with the reply "thank-you, although I think maybe the photographer may have contributed too" which comes across with a touch of humour - and educates them at the same time.

Another reply which will hit the point home is:

"Thanks. I chose a fast shutter of 1/1250th /sec so I could control wing blur yet isolate the bird by blurring the background using an aperture of f/5.6 at 300mm."

They won't know what the hell you just said - but they will know "You" know what you are talking about!

I would just hand them the camera and say: "it sure is a nice piece of hardware. Let's see you make some magic!"

I hope you don't mind but I saw 'Image editing ok' and I sharpened the eyes a little. I'll remove it if you you prefer, PM me if you wish. I think it helps her eyes a little but regardless - great shot!
