7D mkII. What do you think the specs and price will be?

I started with the Canon 60D, great camera was thinking about upgrading to 7D but I decided to wait until the 7D MII comes out. Because this is a hobby, I don't see the need or believe a hobbyist/ amateur needs a full frame camera. Just because you have a Canon 5D MIII and top of the range L lenses, doesn't mean you can take a better photo. I have notice that even professional photographers are using the 7D as there main camera, from news photographers, portrait shooter through to wedding photography. So, when the Canon 7D MII arrives, it will be one of the best selling the DSLR's history. I can't wait.

If 7d's af is alot better than 5d m2, then it makes more sense that 7d m2 has better af than 5d m3

Isn't the 5D3 af pretty much the match of the 1DX?

Do you really think they would put a 1DX beating AF in the 7D2??

The 5d3 has very good AF. But it still isn't as good as the 1dx, especially on larger teles like the 500mm II and 600 II where the lenses need the extra AF drive that the larger 1dx battery produces (5d3+grip still isn't the same). This doesn't mean that the 1dx is only better on super teles, but it does have a distinct advantage there. As far as tracking goes, the 1dx once again, surpasses the 5d3. So the 5d3 is close, but the 1dx still has significantly better AF performance. Many people narrow the actual gap because of the insane cost of the 1dx, which puts it out of their range. (I would have to agree with them )

I would not be surprised if the AF performance of 7d2 equals or surpasses the 5d3. They are two separate styles of bodies that are meant for different types of subjects. And I would agree with the logic of ICarumba.

By the time this camera gets released, it will be 4+ years removed from the 7D. If Canon only gives it minor upgrades, it will be unfortunate.
The 7Dmk II needs to be a game changer. It needs to have improved everything. It has to make people believe that it was worth the wait and the upgrade!

Guaranteed it will be a game changer in video. It will definitely have the new video technology that's in the new 70D and perhaps more. I believe
there will also be enough upgrades in the photo department to make everyone happy (IQ, ISO, FPS, HDR, wifi etc). I am also confident that with all of
the upgrades, there will certainly be an increase in price. I'm guessing the camera will be $1800 minimum. I can't see it being over $2300 unless they go all out on the update.

I'm confident the camera will have:

- Duel sensor's (probably duel 5+'s, but hopefully something fresh)
- HDR
- wi-fi / gps
- Improved AF (both performance and points)
- AF video (duel pixel CMOS AF)
- A Modest increase in FPS (9 or 10fps)
- Improved IQ and ISO performance (to what degree is anyone's guess)
- It will come packaged with an STM kit lens
- Touch screen
- 20-24mp

Hopefully it has:
- a duel card system (1 CF, 1 SD)
- 60fps video @ 1080P
- A few other pleasant surprises

Why?

People are buying the current 7D. If the MKII has no real innovations - 20MP, 70D LiveView AF, slightly improved AF, 10 fps - it will still sell just as well as the MkI, but for a higher price.

If you really want to single that out of my entire post, then lets have at 'er. Canon technically doesn't need to do anything. In fact, Canon doesn't even need to make a 7Dmk II if they don't want to. Perhaps I and many others are just hoping that it's a "game changer."

Of course it will sell and the term "game changer" is open to interpretation. It's subjective. What I think is game changing, another may not.

However, there is a reason why I never upgraded to the T3i when it came out. Or the T4i or the T5i. But you can bet your bottom dollar that this duel pixel CMOS AF technology caught my attention (and can arguably be defined as game changing by people who are also into the video side of things), which brings us back to your original question of why?

Canon is a business and most businesses # 1 goal is profit maximization. In order to maximize profit, Canon needs to convince as many people as they possibly can that the 7d mk II is worth buying. Not just beginners, but also for people like myself, who are looking to upgrade.

It will prolly be the bench mark for crop cameras but will lack some weather sealing. Prolly be in the 20 something for focus points. 2 processors.18 mp with 2 stops better on the sensor. 10fps radio triggered flash and wi-fi. $2099

Why do you think the sensors, pixels and cards will fight?

I don't know off the top of my head how big the 7D buffer size is.
Memory is so cheap, Canon could easily add an 8GB buffer to the 7DII and speed it up in so many different ways.

nice but if it's $1,800 I'll wait

Canon, just price the 7D2 near $1499, since 70D is $1199
and 6D is few $100s over it.

Even then, price of FF 6D would be very attractive since with recent deals here and there with kit, printer etc..one can have the 6D body for around $1600

$200 price gap!
