Wish the 16" x 20" version could be posted here ... so much better.

The 40,000 pound burl tree in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. One of a few that I'm planning to offer as large prints.

Hey guys. I'm putting mine up for sale in the FM if you know of anyone who needs one. I'd rather keep it, but I need one I can weather seal (17-40L) for storm photography.

I just received the lens today from Adorama. Took the first the shot with f2.8 all the way to f10, everything seems to be working order until f11. It gave me this error message (Err 01 Communication between the camera and lens is faulty. Clean the lens contacts) I did clean but the message is keep coming back. Do you guys know what is going on? I never had anything problems with my Canon lenses and this lens is my first 3rd party lens. Canon 5D III is the body I used for the tests.

Seems I had that error show for my Canon 24-105mm, and cleaning did no good. Sent it to Canon, and they also fixed an autofocus issue.

Works fine.

One thing I've found related to weird things on a couple of cameras, has been from 3rd party battery grips. Seen a few weird gliches. Not sure if it can cause that gliche though.

Hey owners of the 16-28! Got a quick question to ask.

I'm considering picking up this lens. I've tried the lens in-store and while it does produce great IQ, I've noticed how stiff the zoom ring is (compared to L lenses). I was wondering after some time does the ring become less stiff and more smooth?

Thanks!

Mine is stiff, but not prohibitively so.

Hmmm I was hoping this would be the answer to my UWA need moving from a 7D to 5DIII. Looks like it's too much like the 11-16 I ended up selling in favour of the 10-22 because of flare. The moon would make the 11-16 flare badly. Subscribing nonetheless but what I really want is a Canon 14-24...

Anyone get a Lee filter kit mounted on this thing? What did you do?

This is seriously one of the best lenses I've used, and I love it. But, this thread is seriously lacking in participation!! I'm going to take it out this weekend and contribute as much as I can. Come on, Tokinamese! Shine!

Take a look at the comparisons via DXO now using the 5D3 as opposed to the 5DII...the comparisons vary. 5D2 link at the bottom

5D3:
16mm
2.8-Canon
4/5.6 Tokina by a mile
8 Tokina
11 Tokina
22 Canon by a hair

20mm
2.8 Canon slightly better
4/5.6 Tokina
8 Tokina
11 Tokina
22 Even

28mm
2.8 Tokina
4/5.6 Tokina
8 Tokina
11 Tokina
22 Even

I see Canon being slight better at 2.8 in all the tests on the 5D3...( I'm using the Tokina for my wide angle star shots and trails at 2.8 and its really really good)... fantastic at f16 for landscapes

I'd forgot about this lens, wOw, many stunning images as I look back through the pages.
I've recently got myself a EOS 5D Mk2 body, think I'll do my homework on this Tokina 16-28 AT-X lens, it seems brilliant for full-frame format stuff!

Keep the photo's coming guys n' gals!

Thanks;

Some quick shots with the lens. Mind you, these are "wtf" shots because I took it on a walk today. This weekend, I'll have some good ones from a camping trip to watch the meteors.

Also: yes, this lens flares, but I am not the person to ask about it. I like flare in my images. I like the perspective it gives to a photo (I like to call myself a photographic impressionist due to my desire to capture a mood as the eye beholds),

Self picture, and some from around Long Beach, CA
