Northern Lights GNP

When I was home for the 4th holiday we had a decent KP spike late one night while we were out and about. So we went and found a couple of cool spots.

Nice! I shot that from north central Minnesota and the pillar was far to the west!

where is this usually seen? Can it be seen from southern wisconsin area as well?

some times you can, last night you should have been able to I think. If you can get far enough out away from all the light pollution of the more populated states.

I've gotten some awesome shots just north of Edgerton, south of Madison.

I was out numerous times last night and seen absolutely nothing. Yet a friend by Hartford Wi was seeing everything! Oh we'll.

will be low on the horizon generally, and in many cases it looks like a light colored haze.

Oh wow...never new that....thanks for those explanation everyone. I have lived in Wisconsin but really this is the first time ever hearing about northern light...
So I'm assuming northern light is aurora that's seen further away from polar region?
