I've come to realise, to get good shots, I have to be more adventurous. So, this morning I woke up at 4:20 and took a 90 minute drive down the coast.

I arrived at Cathedral Rock in Kiama at about 6am. Which gave me more than enough time to explore the area. I'd never been there before. According to Willy Weather it was supposed to be low tide, it was not. Getting to the ideal spot at high tide proved to be quite difficult, especially whilst carrying a tripod, my camera bag and a torch (it was pitch black at 6am). Scaling multiple rock walls with waves crashing against me, I knew it was not going to be an easy task. However, I made it to my spot without a scratch on me, just a lot of seawater.

Here are a few shots from my adventure! I really like the first one, but can't decide on the last two.

Not much input on the images from my end though I think all of them look great. I just stopped by to say that I took a look at your Flickr stream and it is simply outstanding. I really enjoyed your work and the images were crisp, clear and beautiful.

Cheers

Awesome photos and well worth the trek to capture these images. I love all three of them, but the sky looks a little cooked on #1 and #2. Doesn't seem as natural as the last image.

#1 appears oversharpened, but all are nice work!

Wow, thank you! That's quite the compliment!

I see what you mean, especially number 2. Maybe I could dial it down a tad.

I especially like the first image. I think the shutter speed was perfect for the wave action and the whole image looks like a painting (meant as high praise).

Third picture looks like something from Lord of the Rings!
Love it!

Clearly, it was worth the effort.

Just be careful about adding too much red-saturation as it will force the colour to "pop out" from the image too much.

Regards, and keep at it!

Simon

I second this, your Flickr is brilliant i enjoyed looking through and i also agree with a few others #1 appears to be slightly over sharpened but i love them all, #1 is for me breathtaking though captures the rage and calmness of the sea at the same time to me.

now i want to visit Australia even more, jelious over here!

Man, you got that right.

You, sir, know where to point that barrel thingy on the end of a camera.

Dynamite stuff!

Very nice indeed. Some really nice shots on your flickr site. There is nothing like seascapes at first light.
