Again, please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just saying that other people's shots often don't look better because they spent hours in post processing, it's usually because they exposed the shots properly in camera and then tweaked the files in post... I generally don't spend more than a minute per shot in LR4.

I don't know if I'd fully agree with this... Most shots SOOC regardless of the lens/camera/etc.. are meh. If you're good at PP you'll get some incredible looking pictures. I know this because when I work with models I'm always depressed on the train back to LI from NYC as the shots only look sub-par, but as soon as I throw some edits on them it's as if they got some form of magic to them.

Sometimes I'm slow to getting around to editing and uploading photos. This is from January.

I've seen some pretty impressive shots SOOC. I agree, editing is a necessary step of making a photo (some disagree), but I'm saying you can still get better shots than the examples he showed SOOC. To me they looked overexposed and lacked contrast, both of those could be fixed in camera.

shooting in broad daylight, where both foliage and sky is included in the shot, it's very hard to get a good sooc picture, or rather, no matter how well you nail it, a little PP tweak will make it better 99% of the time. I looooooooove that "highlights" control in LR4, usually in conjunction with the "Shadows" slider.

I bought this lens brand new, sold it, missed it so much, I had to buy another one. Here's an image that I took from a family session.
