I think it came from when I used to go to eagle releases by local wildlife rehabilitation groups and people would ask me to get shots of the talons as the person releasing the bird was holding it.

Sorry to hear that and during the encounter all of us ended up soaking wet either from the rain or the humidity after the rain stopped and we started sweating. Thankfully I carry a trash bag for the camera gear....it was the first time I had to use it.

Actually we were standing out in a field getting wet as much as the hawk. If I didn't have the trash bag with me I would have had to wait for the rain to stop....that would have drove me nuts just standing there not being able to photograph the hawk. We haven't seen the hawk since this encounter so it makes this day all more special. :D
