It vignettes so much, metering does not work, not to mention on moving targets, the focus is hit or miss, 50-50%. So frustrating! I have wasted so much time and energy because of this lens already and yes I have the dock. I am going to sell it at a loss most likely and buy 35L.

I have the same issues as yours, I returned my Sigma and went with Canon 35L.

go for it.

Mine is amazingly consistent.... moving targets, different distances, different lighting.... if it misses focus, it's user error on my part.

Can we just stop the s35 whine train? moving targets with F1.4? are you tracking? There are lightroom profiles now for the lens correction to clear the vignette, and every lens vignettes to some degree. Don't like it? don't buy it, we don't need anymore whiny threads on this here. Go buy the zeiss or the 35l, just dont come back complaining about the price please.

Sorry to hear that! The consensus is that the lens is superb. No issues with mine. Focuses well with no MFA needed, and very very sharp. it's my go-to lens for my newborn baby (where getting the pic is everything)

I owned 35L before and it's not more consistent than the Sigma.

Like someone have said above, some people are simply expecting too much, such as shooting moving targets at f1.4.

Problem is mostly due to user error, nothing more need to be said really.

Sell it OP, your dreaming if you think 35L will give you more keepers lol

Wow, moving targets at 1.4 with razor thin dof. Apparently my Sigma 35 works great on 2 different bodies.

I hear that sigma's lenses get many quality issues. Different quality levels lenses dispense to different areas. So ... only could count on yourself.

How should I compliment ...

Or with tears ......

I have the 35, 50, and 85 Sigma. They all perform quite well. I bought the 50 used, didn't think it was as sharp as could be, sent it in, and got it 2 weeks later. All I had to pay was shipping. I'd put my Sigma lenses up against any canon lens if you want to compare focus and sharpness.

Dof at 35mm F1.4 5 meters ahead is over 5ft, its not like I am chasing flies a few inches away from them. I had a 35L that I rented and it was absolutely superb in terms of focus accuracy. It's not that MFA does not work for Sigma, their docking software is great, and it does, but it is so inconsistent. You shoot 100 shots on the same spot, 80 of them works, 20 doesn't. It has got nothing to do with focus calibration, it's the lens itself. Call it being after market or Canon's proprietary focusing algorithms, I don't know.

I use it with 1DX btw.

What are you talking about? Sigma 50 is the WORST sigma lens ever, 85 is no better. 35 is probably the best out of all 3, but it's light years behind Canon's worst L lens in terms of accuracy.

The metering is very inaccurate like the OP says, I tried 3 copies, all were the same. You put the lens on a tripod, take a picture, it over exposes by a full stop. 2 seconds later, it under exposes by 1/3 stop. It's crazy!

I wouldn't come close to any Sigma lenses - not even if they were handing them out for free. It's just not worth my time.

Exactly the reason I passed on the Sigma and will be getting a Canon 35L instead. Wasn't worth the hassle of dealing with potential issues and huge loss of value on the original purchase price.
