The printer deal looks like a hassle... mail in rebate then try to sell.
I think the price is good for the lens but I just don't know how much I'll use it.
There are a lot of lenses I could buy that I would use more in the price range that I can get this lens for so I think I might skip it, I just got excited when I saw $300 off!
There are so many deals out there on packages, but you are righ about the hassle of playing the "flip it" for savings game. It is a hassle. If the package includes gear you will use, different story.
Figuring out what you will use for your photography will go a long way in saving you money (and it will also help you get the most out of your camera). The 50 1.8 and 55-250 lenses I bought with my refurb 60D 20 months ago are now long gone in favor of faster glass, as I now know what I need to shoot low-light sports and portraits to my satisfaction.
That said, I jumped on a mail-in rebate promotion that made the Pro-100 printer $89 and I really love the printer. The deal included 50 sheets of 13x19 semi-gloss paper as well. The ink alone in that printer is worth about $125.
