Dont expect too much. I love this lens but the very first shots can be quite frustrating and you might find them too soft at 1.2 until you get the trick. However after getting used to the lens for a while it will more and more set a smile to your face - at least in my case :D

People pass judgment on this lens too quickly. A lot of times they've never even used it, just repeating what they've heard. This has been my only lens for over 2 years now, and I love it. Yes, it can be frustrating at times if you aren't careful, it worth it.

If you mean me, you got the point of my post wrong.

I was telling that it IS soft at 1.2, but the lens' other qualifications are so enormous that you can live with the softness and will even more love that lens because it is simply a unique tool for, i guess the most creative style ive ever did.

I wasn't meaning you. I was just pointing out that a lot of people become disappointed the first time they try out the lens, or they just repeat what they hear from people who actually used it.

Thats true. For me it was the opposite. I heard about the softness of the lens but i thought to myself cmon, its a 1500$ lens how can it be so soft they must be dumb selling at that price. But once you know how to use the lens you recognize that this lens wasnt meant for pixel peeping. It was meant for art and creativity. And i mean it is soft wide open but i think its acceptable..

Knowing the limitation of this lens is half of the battle. This lens is not for pixel peeping at wide open but when you close down your aperture from 1.6+, this lens is no different than any other lenses that I have, it is sharped even when you look at pixel level. Other experience I have with this lens is when I shoot below 2.8, I never use recompose, nor outside focusing point - only center point.

Shot BTS recently and did some interesting color grading. Interested to see what you guys thought... This was a raw shot, and I'm not planning on uploading for a bit till I got some CC.

Shot with a 5D3 + 50L

Did a some skin correction, brightness and contrast, and of course color grading.

CC and thoughts are completely welcomed.

Before and After (Before= warmer orange color, After= blue-ish darks and mids, more natural skin tones)

Thanks, how do you feel about the color grading? And there is a subtle difference in brightness and contrast, of course sharpness, and also the skin was cleaned up big time :D
