The first one, not so much. The second one is sharper.

first image a tad blurry in the eyes and you want these super sharp, 2nd image right eye sharp

Me, too. Also, keep in mind that there's no "rule" that everything in the image has to be sharpened the same amount? And besides keeping the noise down, you'll also get a smaller file size.
A few words on SHARPENING:


FrankC - 20D, RAW, Manual everything...
Classic Carz, Racing, Air Show, Flowers.
Find the light... A few Car Lighting Tips, and MOVE YOUR FEET!
Have you thought about making your own book? // Need an exposure crutch?
New Image Size Limits: Image must not exceed 1600 pixels on any side.
