Anyone have the Canon 15-85 lens? Seems like a good all around lens. Deciding between that and the 24 mm 2.8 IS.

if ur looking for an all around lens. between the two i would go with the 15-85 for your SL1.

you're covered for your wide and long needs. when you're using speedlight anyway, f3.5 or even 5.6 is not a problem. if you want to blur the background, zoom all the way and you'll get blurred background. that's as long as the distance from subject to background is enough and how close you are to the subject.

sometimes you should not rely on gears but on technique. that's why i didn't mind trading my 135mm to 100mm.

Welcome to the digital age. When a book is sold used or borrowed, the publisher doesn't get paid. This is the same logic that they are using for video games now - there are online features or assignments that are required and use a one time access code, so if the book is acquired second hand, you have to buy a new code so they still get their cut.

Yeah your right that's why for now I have been only using the 40mm pancake. And when I want more in my pic I back up if I need to get closer I move forward.. Definitely a good learning experience working with what I got

you will need the code. most math classes these days have all of there assignments online useing the code. the book will probably not be needed.
