I would pay up to 2K as long as it's not obscenely large.

There is already a thread of this in the RUMOR section

Mods please move :)

Sorry, I didn't even know there was a rumor section. I actually just looked and can't even find the rumor section. How do you get to it?

I think it will be $1599.

It's a F2 lens with Stablization. Can't be that cheap.

This thing will replace my primes.

Obviously, the first thing people are going to do is compare the 35mm 1.4 at 2.0 and this lens at 35mm wide open. If the lens is almost indistinguishable from the 35mm prime, it's gonna be one hell of a lens!

If the IQ is as good as their 18-35 1.8 is, I'm not too concerned what the price is- as it'll replace enough lenses of mine that the overall out of pocket expense won't be that significant assuming it doesn't come in at like $2,500, which knowing Sigma, it'll be nowhere near.

Anything under $2k and if the PQ is close the level of the 35mm f/1.4 or 18-35, I'm in.

If that's the case, I can imagine how much this will undercut the sales of primes like Canon 24 f/2.8 IS , 35 f/2 IS, 28 f/2.8 IS, 50 f/1.4 etc.

Let's pray Sigma opts for an affordable price tag around $1300.

That would destroy Canon's ability to sell their 24-70 2.8 mk ii for anywhere near $2000.

$1299 sounds like a logical price to knock Tamron out.

If Sigma values the lens more, it would hit:

$1699 to tackle the $2000 Nikon & Canon alternatives

I didn't know Tamron, Canon and Nikon were making f2.0 zooms.

You can't call an f2.8 zoom "alternative" to f2.0 one. If this lens is not a myth, it will be one of a kind, all by itself in its own league.

I think Sigma can charge almost anything it wants for this lens, as there will always be people going after the uniqueness of the lens.

I'm guessing $1499, and I'm also guessing that it will optically be on par with the 35/1.4 and 18-35. Sigma is just killing it lately, truly engineering fantastic products. I think it is safe to say Canon has been unwilling to cannibalize any of their big ticket lenses, but Sigma is gladly stepping to the plate. Consumers are going to win no matter what.

I'm not sure how you guys think that a lens this revolutionary would be 1300-1500$...??
Not that I'll mind if it would just as long as it doesn't compromises good IQ.
We have to remember that there is only 1 stabilized 24-70 F2.8 on the market and that one is 1300$, F2 in a zoom is something that used to be a dream (still is until it comes out) and when you add OS its truly remarkable! I think I even saw a few people asking for one in the " what's your dream lens" thread

Simple really. Based on their revolutionary lens they just released, I'd put good money on this being less than $1500.
