Never. But I wish I'd been using it in Boston last week when my lens got damaged bumping against some concrete. Wouldn't have been hurt if I'd had the hood attached.

Instead I have one of those neoprene caps that slip over the end as I like to keep my lee adapter ring attached all the time and the lens cap is not compatible with it.
