I was hired to do a wedding this saturday as a videographer. The bride asked if I could snap a few pictures during the day I said sure wont be a problem (they didnt hire a photographer said they didint need one). I told her my main purpose will be to take a video and I will take a few pictures if I have time. Now she mentioning family photos etc after the ceremony. I feel the wedding day they will try to take advantage of me and ask to take pictures all the time... How should I handle this. I told them I could rent a second camera with flash to take more pictures for an extra fee they declined.

Also in the contract is stated I can use the video/photos for promo use ( website/facebook) She just emailed me and said she wants it to be private and doesn't want it anywhere...

I basically replied this

As for the pictures I see that your expecting a lot from me. I just want to confirm my main purpose is a videographer and I was suppose to take a few photos, it is now turning into much more. You never mentioned taking pictures in the morning and ceremony. It will be hard enough to take all the video requested so ill do my best. I will deliver roughly 100 photos as we discussed earlier. If you want me to take many more pictures there will be an extra charge. Im not angry im just trying to clarify this.

When's the wedding?
This is going to turn into a nightmare - it's already a bad dream, but you've made a rod for your own back.
She asked for a few photos, and you've promised her roughly 100 (she'll be expecting AT LEAST 100) - that's hardly a few, and that shot list is what a photographer alone would cover, not someone who is videoing the wedding as well.
My guess is that you're doing this on the cheap, and cheap clients always want more for less.
You are on a hiding to nothing.
If you can, I'd bail out now.
If you don't, you aint seen nuthin' yet.

This went bad to worse in the past 30 minutes. You are all ready being taken advantage of and its only going to get worse. Setting expectations is one of the biggest challenges and most important aspects of this and many other businesses.

Stick to your contract - of course they don't think they'll need a photographer, they already have one: YOU! Refer to your contract as a videographer and if she insists on you take photos, renegotiate a new contract and fee.

Completely agree with this. This is really really going to suck.

Also, if in your contract it clearly states that you will use the video for promo purposes, then get her to agree in writing to terminate the contract... then suggest she go elsewhere. I would not want to work with her...

She has already tried to breach the contract (no promo photos for you)
She seems to be more intent on photos than the video
She has made it clear she doesn't want to spend more money
And she's doing this with the wedding this weekend!!!!!

It's not gunna be good
Best of luck to you

Your mistake was in agreeing to take photos. I'd be trying my hardest to get out of this wedding completely. If you can't then respond to her list with a maximum of 5 photos you will be able to take.

WOW...They are taking advantage of you !!!! No way you can handle this amount of photography and video. Tell her you can not do her photography list or photography.. I am afraid if you agreed to a limited number of images they would expect more.

Your job is providing her great video content. STAY away from photography. If you can take a few picts then fine but I would not agree to taking any. Under promise and over-deliver.

As far as keeping it private, I would abide by her wishes.. Sucks but I would honor her wishes.

There are clients who will try to take advantage of you. Sounds like she is one of them. The cheapskate really needs to hire a photographer too...
