I've found I get more consistent results with focus point expansion AF. I haven't a real chance to test it properly yet but I work next to the airport so had a play with an arriving & departing 777.

I guess my main concern moving forward is going to be keep the shutter speeds up with the slow aperture. We are soon moving into spring down here and mountain biking and jet skiing will be high on the photo subject lists and these can sometimes require quite fast shutter speeds.
