I wonder how much Sigma is cutting their profit margins on these new super lenses that are clearly above the competition?

They must be trying to gain a huge foothold in the industry market share and then slowly raise prices on new gear over a longer period of time. Once Sigma is associated with premium quality (which they weren't before) it will be easier for people to shell out more for the best money can buy.

I was thinking the same thing when the price for this lens got released. I was with everyone else thinking it would be at least $1200-1500.
Of course you could always look at it the other way and wonder how much profit Canon is making on their lenses with the current price points.

I thought this was a cool example of sharpness on this lens. Detail is kinda dizzy but pretty impressive to me at 18mm wide open. Just playin in my garage.

PP in LR but no sharpening added.

Has anyone else had any issues with the focusing on this lens? I ordered mine from DigitalRev. Turns out ordering from DR will NOT give you a USA warranty, but DigitalRev seems good about accepting returns. I just ordered another one from BuyDig in hoping it will work. Anyway, the problem seems to be that it misses the focus about 75% of the time. It works better when I'm closer to the subject. Here's what I mean:

MA doesn't seem to affect it at all, it is still a hit or miss. Hopefully I just got a bad copy as I seem to be the only person with this problem.

I am shooting with a 7D and it is spot on. You know you need to send that back right?
