A few days ago, I posted a query about putting my name in the 1DIII as "owner". I was directed to EOS Utility, where I did, indeed, find that I could register my name there. It does NOT, however, keep it "on file" and attach that info when I download it to Zoom Browser and then into Corel's Paint Shop X4, which I use as a processing program. There seems to be no such area to include info in Zoom Browser.

When I open EOS Utility, a click on the "tools" icon opens a small "info" area that allows me to enter my name, among other things. That seems to be as far as I can get.

I may well be missing instructions or a toggle someplace, too.

Any ideas?

Thanks, folks!
Don

That's how you do it. Depending on camera model, you can enter (camera) owner's name, author (who took the picture) and copyright notice.
If you open your image in Digital Photo Professional, then press Ctrl+I, you'll get an info window, where you'll find this information.

Thanks, Anders.

I was expecting the ownership info to show up in the EXIF for the photograph in my Paint Shop X4, as it does when I shoot with the 7D. The difference is that I can enter that info directly into the 7D via the menu. It's not much of an issue, but it just seems to me a fairly basic idea to have that info in the 1D series cameras.

Regards!
Don

Examine the EXIF with some Canon software (DPP) and if you have done the procedure properly the name will be there. The issue may very well be with Paint Shop X4 not recognizing the data. You are not alone is noting this. Review the thread at http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=45727 (external link) which initially was a post about version X1 having issues with EXIF information. As you progress near the bottom of the thread you'll find users of X4 have similar issues and in fact it does not seem to be corrected in X5! Note the JPG comparison of the EXIF that includes X5 display.

Thanks, John. In X4, I DO get the basic EXIF info when I've processed an image, just not the "artist" entry. It's nothing I'll worry much about, just an opportunity missed by Canon, apparently. I might get curious enough to go back and find some 50D files and see if it's there. I know the info was programmed into my 7D, and just sort of expected it with the 1DIII.

Regards!

Verify it is there with DPP or post an image here (EXIF intact) and I can check it for you.

It seems you are mixing up the data fields.
What you can set from the menu in a 7D, 1DX etc. is the photographer (author) and the copyright notice. No EOS camera allow you to set the camera owner from the menu system.
Camera owner is a third item, different from the other two.
