Have you entered, today, I entered my first competition today. Beside it to say, I won't mention the competition, but its related to what I photograph most

You need to add a "none" to the poll. ;)

Never entered a competition before and that is over 40 years of taking pictures. I have had a few pictures entered into gallery art shows by friends without my knowing. That did give me a nice feeling inside about both my friends and my photography. :)

Suggestions welcome.

I would love to enter competitions, but I have found that almost every competition out there claims at least some rights to use & publish ANY image entered (not just the winners). So, if I enter something, I then lose the ability to sell a license with "First North American Rights" to my clients. The commercial value of an image is often severely undermined any time it is entered in a competition.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Yeah I know your point, they even did that in previous years gone by in the one that I've just entered, while I did want the camera (to sell later), I wouldn't sell my soul for a Nikon

none, I'm too cheap to pay for entrance fee :p

I don't see the need of entering competitions, I shoot for my own satisfaction

I've entered only one where I had to pay. Won nothing.

Entered several times in the informal contests that we used to have on another forum that I frequent, and won a few of those.

My wife says I should enter some in our local festivals and the state fair. While I think my work might be good enough to win, I don't think the style or subject matter are what the judges are looking for.

For the last three years, I've entered Aviation Week and Space Technology's annual photo contest simply as a way to see if I "measure up"

I've managed no worse than a 2nd place in various categories and I was on the cover of the 2012 issue.

I have entered 2 contests at work. My company recognized they had a lot of employees that were amateur photographers and started a contest. They have 3 categories that loosely relate to work and allow 2 entries per category. I have never won but they have used several of my photographs as the photo of the day that appears on their daily news letter.

Entered one competition with an entrance fee. A whopping $10! I won second place in the category which got me a nice ribbon. :)
