Here's a FWIW tip...

Many great images of food posted here, many made by natural daylight. One distraction (for me) that I see over and over, are the tungsten highlights from overhead light sources that often appear in plate rims, sauces, flatware, etc. The tungsten yellow/orange color ruins what otherwise would be a very nice image, imo, as it is totally out of synch with the general palette of colors. These highlights are generally small and would be a simple click to erase.

Anyway...as I said, take it fwiw!

;)

My answer for most photography questions: "it depends...'

Good advice.

thanks so much >_<

tbh it's just a hobby for me so as long as people enjoy my blog, that's all i really care about... i'm an IT consultant by day so my life is hella boring, taking photos is what i enjoy to relax haha

You've got some nice clean shots going on - would like to see what you could do with more rustic style cooking.

Looks like you eat at some great restaurants - the presentation of some of the food you shoot is awesome.

heh thx! yeah food blogging is super casual and fun... u don't need to know anything about photography really as readers aren't hyper critical or anything so anything you post they will love haha... if you want to eat your food hot tho u really only get to take 4-5 photos max... so can't control lighting, can't use flash, can't change the table staging really and only get to take a couple photos lol, i love the challenge... it's my fav 'type' of photography to do cuz u have almost no control XD

This was a major fail. Shooting parfait seemed like a good idea, but once I was in the studio putting it together I realized how runny the fruit and yogurt were :(. Camera angled from the top didnt improve things much.. lesson learned :).

Just received yesterday a 50mm 2.5 compact macro purchased from kitacanon so that I can take photos of my bakery creations. Here's one from the first set of images - Gourmet White Chocolate Chip Cookies: Cranberry Almond.

grabbed a quick photo before hopping on the ole sofa for a little Sunday sports action

if i had more than 10 seconds to take the photo i woulda whipped out a light partition or something to diffuse the harsh highlights glaring in from the window stage right but... pretty happy for a spur of the moment shot
