i have a good friend offering me an insanely good deal on a 7d, pretty hard to turn down, hes selling me the body for 950, just barely over 2000 clicks, and hes giving me a 32gb sandisk extreme flash card, along with a battery grip and a rode mic, however the 70d is coming out soon and since ill be doing mainly video, the new CMOS AF sensor would be hands down perfect for my use, since ill be shooting mountain biking, but im stuck here, its pretty hard to say no to that 7d and i can barely afford that, and the new 70d is gonna be a few hundred more for the body, im just thinking of buying the 7d and selling the body so i can keep the accesories and buy the 70d

any thoughts?

If you'll be doing mostly video, why not buy a dedicated video camera. I'm sure the IQ will be superior, and then you can buy a smaller camera, maybe SL1, for stills. Just a thought.

way out of budget, let me rephrase that, ill be doing video 50% of the time and photos 50% of the time, i need a camera that can do both im upgrading form a 60d

If you don't like the 60D then the 7D won't impress you on the video side. Try the 70D when it finally comes out.

I would suggest the 70D over the 7D for video. I have a 7D and a Canon M, though the video on the 7D is very good the little M is far better for video and the auto focus while recording is very handy. Plus the audio is much better on the M over the 7D and should be the same or maybe even better with the 70D. Can let you know in about a month and a half when the wife's 70D shows up at the house.

Suggestions welcome.

I expect to take a hit on this , as I was Duped once before . Just was told by a guy that is big in the Busn of Photography that they may start shipping by the end of this month(Aug 2013). . I did a security gig for the guy on Thurs & asked him about the 70d , he told me he would get back to me and he e-mailed me Saturday morning advising of this .

Start shipping by end of August makes sense for a end of Sept release date. Those boats take a bit of time to cross the ocean, then offload, git it on a truck, drive it to whatever warehouse, distribute to local places, back on trucks to stores then onto shelves.

If you were extremely lucky. I wouldn't expect discounts until spring 2014 or later.

I would think that any used bodies in December are going to be from the few folks that buy early and try to sell them high counting on early adopters wanting it badly enough to pay the premium price.
