Went to dinner last night and where they sat us had hummers everywhere. Didn't have the light right where I wanted it, but ended up with this and kinda like it.

Yeah, I think with hoarding you always keep the equipment... with GAS you may not.

There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'obsession'....

Damn, dude! Nailed the focus there! I tried those hummer shots many times and they always flew away before my shutter would fully open.

DR D:Great Shot! I love hummingbirds. I see you also shoot with 60D. Was that shot taken with the 24-105L by chance? I read in another thread that that pairing wasn't great ( I think the thread was on walk around lens' for crop ) I know with the 24-105 the focal length is longer so the 24 end is what... 35? I really like the flexibility on framing with a zoom, bu I don't have an issue with switching lenses. I think eventually I want 4 maybe 5 zooms with slight overlaps or small gaps in range. But the 24-105L is probably the only L I could really justify being an amateur. Thoughts?

this might be asked before and me myself don't use one in any portrait sessions.

I figure out though when not using a tripod. let's say you're taking like 10 shots in one scene. usually i tend to pay too much attention to the subject. The results will be... my background will have different orientation or angle. some are straight horizontally, some are tilted to the right, some are tilted to the left. it's annoying sometimes in post.

when you view the pics in FB for example. everytime you hit next, the pics are shifting.

anybody using a tripod in portrait? i know it stops you from being mobile. but if it is a controlled environment, why not?

your thoughts please.

I used one last time I had a portrait session, but it was over a year ago...

this maybe applicable for family group shots. but not on wedding though. you need to be fast in wedding. perhaps i'll pay attention with my horizontal. or can use the viewfinder level features in mark iii. i believe also in 60D if i'm not wrong.
