Has anybody have any experience with Soho-jet continuous feed ink systems, particularly for Epson 1800/800 type printer? Ink and color quality? print head performance? I am tired of replacing ink cartridges after 10 prints..

stick with OEM cartridges. I did a CIS system and quality was poor. color was off and after a few days I had to re-purge the system. I sent it back for a refund. Printing from home is way more expensive then having a lab print it out for you. It is just the way of the game.

Yeah they have print drivers for their system but you will go through countless prints and time just to attempt to achieve the quality of the OEM inks, in the end you never will hit that goal. I have a thread on here somewhere showing a step by step deal on my CIS system years ago.

Good luck.

thanks SEV, I am getting that idea from everyone who has used a system. I want to try more of the labs but how do you adjust the color , saturation etc using a lab. How can their photos be true to what I am seeing on my screen?

If you want to get things "just right", it starts with calibrating your monitor (spending money on a hardware and software solution and ensuring that you have a good-quality monitor). Then, a good lab will provide a "profile" that you can use in an app such as Photoshop, Lightroom or DPP.

From there, a series of test prints will help you to "fine-tune" things.

Or, you can go the route of just testing and fine-tuning and figuring that the final outcome will be "good enough"!

I have had no issues with BayPhoto or Mpix, just need to make sure that your monitor is calibrated good and that the color and exposure is right. Some labs have steps they recommend you do to get good prints but start off small. Order a few 4x6 size prints one the way the lab recommends and one the way you want and see the difference then you know which way will work. You will get very close but never spot on 100% as your screen. I was within 5% difference and at that percentage of a difference I couldn't even tell the anything was off.

Tried CIS systems, too many leaks, went with refillable carts. Using Cone Inks, google John Cone, ink cost reduced to about 26% of the cost of Epson inks. Outstanding prints, pigment ink for longevity. Buy my paper from Red River, can print a full bleed 8.5 X 11 for about 28 cents.
