So, I did it. Last night I purchased the t5i kit with 18-55mm STM lens on amazon, a 32gb class 10sdhc card and an extra battery. I am pumped! Now just to anxiously await its arrival!!!

:D
Congratulations, you will definitely have fun with it.
let me know how the 18-55 is stm lens is. Mine came with the 18-135, sometimes it seems a little big for what I am shooting.

Will for sure let you know! That was one of the things I considered when deciding between kits but I'd be lying if I said that cost wasn't ultimately the deciding factor. The cost of the kit I got was already pushing my budget haha. I find myself not even in possession of the camera yet but wishing my nifty 50 was STM. The focus motor is so loud and ill definitely want to shoot some video with it. I believe I'm planning on using an external mic eventually though so that won't be an issue!

STM lens is nice but I've discovered the camera has stuck pixels on the sensor... Tried the cap on body sensor cleaning tip twice and got nothing. Contacted canon and the retailer. I know every part is susceptible to defects but $850 for a camera you'd kind of hope it'd be perfect right out of the box... Hopefully we'll figure something out quickly I need it for a trip in less than a month... Loving it other than that though. Live view zoom focus is a godsend!

I hope they get the issue resolved. I started out with a T4i for xmas that got damaged. My wife got a protection plan and it was replaced with a T5i for about 40 bucks more. Now I am shopping around for insurance just incase anything happens again.

I really like the first picture. The "ghost images" are really neat.

Hi guys. The wife and I bought ourselves the T5i for each other as an anniversary present. My last 'real' camera was a Canon A-1 I bought used back in the early 80s. I haven't been much of a shutterbug these last few years, but my wife is a Facebook junkie and has been snapping with her IPhone 4S for the last couple of years. She has a pretty good eye, but wanted to try something more.

I admit that she has not had the setting off auto much yet, but that will change. Only accessories we have so far is an 8gb Eye-fi card. Her pics load right to her iPhone for posting. She really digs that.

I have played a little, some of the old knowledge is still there. Will start posting pics as it becomes appropriate.

This forum seems to be a godsend to folks like us.

rescued pups are the best! both of my girls prior to their deaths were both rescues.. they were hours away from either being killed or taken to a shelter..

miss them dearly.. one was a chow/beagle mix (bout the size of a beagle on steroids, light brown, white tipped tail, black nose/mouth, and had a combo of both barks.. she didnt know you it was the chow, if she knew you it was the yelpy beagle) and a full blooded AKC registered rotty. she was born with a birth defect and the breeders were going to dispose of her because they couldn't make any money. best dog ever!
