I bought a 2x TC III a few weeks ago but only just managed to try it with the 70-200mm today. It gives a useful 140-400mm f/5.6 lens with IS and AF capability on most if not all Canon's current bodies. I find the IQ isn't as good as the bare lens (not much is!) but I was pleasantly surprised by the results which makes this combination useable IMO.
This shot is at 245mm, f/8, ISO 640, 1/500 sec. It's also a 70% crop:

I'm not terribly well versed in 'Plane', but is that a Mustang and a Spitfire with it? I was told by the RAF chap that there were only two Lancasters currently flying. One here in Blightly and one in Canada?

I'm from Canada. The B-17 was in our city about a week ago. Sorry wrong plane. I thought the B-17 was the Lancaster. The Lancaster was here a few years ago.

I have the same combo and couldn't be happier with it.

It was a Spitfire and Hurricane.

The Lancaster was from Canada just out side of Toronto in NY state for the Genesee air show.

Here is a Mustang with the Lancaster
