5D3 + 7D
- Same battery
- Very similar body controls.
- To have a second back up body.
- To have 2 different format ( FF and 1.6x )
- Keep in mind the 5D3 is better than 7D in every way.

Except for the reduced reach of the 5D3 vs 7D using the same telephoto lens, just depends on what you shoot... Other than that, we agree 100%. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

I mean, what's the point when I don't have to own a backup body? I don't do photography for a living. There are a couple of lenses I'd like to get too. I guess I could buy an extender to compensate for the lack of focal length if I should feel limited.

I haven't decided if I'm going to sell the 5Dc after buying 6D or 5DIII yet. I've realized I don't need to own two bodies. Sure it's more convenient but I'd rather have another good piece of glass.

I currently use the 7D and 5D3 and am quite happy with this combo. Apparent reach with the 7d and superior performance of the 5d3. F8 autofocus of the 5D3 has been very helpful at times. I also consider the Autofocus of the 5D3 to be superior to the one on 6D. cc

I have this combo, not sure how the buffer is better on the 5D3? Mine drives me nuts. Different bodies for different applications. Perfect combo for me. Wish list is buffer work in firmware like the 7d got. 1DX Mark II, 5D Mark IV, 40D,Rebel XT

Are you using the SD slot? Using just the CF card slot, I've never hit the buffer. 5D3 / M3 / S100 / Σ 35 Art / 50 1.8 / 135 L / 17-40 L / 24-70 L / 70-200 f/4 IS L / m 22 2.0 / 580ex II

With the faster processor of the 5D MK III is notice quite a bit of difference on buffer and how fast the card writes depending on which card I am using. The new Lexar 1000X cards are the best and fastest I have found for the 5D Mk III, I notice a difference with my 300X and 600X cards, all Lexar being slower which affects the buffer than the 1000X cards on the 5D Mk III. I do not notice really any difference between the 600X and 1000X cards on my 7D. I only shoot in RAW and do not use jpeg and have only tested using the CF card. 1D Mark IV, 5D Mark III, 7D, 1.4X MkIII, 2X MkIII, 17-40mm L, 70-200mm f2.8 IS Mk II L, 100mm macro, 500mm f4 IS L, 24-105mm f4 L, 580 EX II, 550EX

rejay14 Goldmember ![]() More info | You had a point, so I checked. 9 shots then the buffer fills. 6 if using one-shot and shooting quickly. 600x card, with and without SD card inserted. ISO 1000, f10, 1/200th. I dont understand why the buffer fills more quickly on one shot. I know that higher ISO uses more processor but still....I keep my SD for emergency overflow since it only writes @133x and slows the CF to the same rate. 1DX Mark II, 5D Mark IV, 40D,Rebel XT
