POTN G-series Speed Challenge #446 - Summertime Fun!

Although we are nearing the end of summer, (boo hoo) we still have a few weeks left of fun times.

What I am looking for this week is a photo that best portrays Summertime Fun!

It is wide open for your interpretation, but I will be judging the top 3 based on looking at the pics and the idea jumping out at me of "Wow - That looks like fun!"

Whether it be at the beach with the kids, on the lake with your boat, leaping out of a building into a pool of water, zip lining, Chasing your spouse across the lawn with a pail of water, or any other kind of activity you participate in, I want the photo to scream Fun Fun Fun!

Good luck everyone, lets see what you and your camera can come up with!

Results:

Spoco57 – Fly a kite:

Wow! Awesome shot! It is hard to shoot at the sky and get any kind of clear picture, but you captured it very well. Your lighting and exposure is excellent. The sky and the kites are all in focus and clear. I really like how you got so many kites in the frame at once.
I smiled when I saw this one and said “yeah, that looks like fun!”
A contender for sure – nicely done!

OhLook - Continued from last week: Pruning that sucker into shape:

Your subject looks like he is very hard at work trimming the growth. The mouth open shows concentration on the task!
But I have to admit, I am struggling to see the summertime fun in trimming a wayward vine. I guess I am not a gardener!! But great composition and exposure there!

Northants nin – Summer Festival Time:

Yes, outdoor festivals are always fun! I enjoy them myself. The guy on the screen kinda looks a little like Hendrix…. That’s a lot of people there too!
Definitely looks like fun - Great pic!

Maureen – Backyard Car Wash:

Awesome! Your little guy looks so intent on the task at hand – He is having fun for sure!
Colors are vibrant and crisp. I think we as parents and grandparents have as much fun watching as they do being in action. That put a smile on my face for sure. Nice work Maureen!

Raven - What says 'fun' more than being swallowed by a giant salmon!:

I laughed out loud when I saw this one – summertime fun indeed! And every time I came back to it I chuckled some more. That’s fantastic! Hope your subject didn’t get too slimy in there. Your Seattle weather is similar to our Vancouver weather – everything turns green from the moisture.
Great job on capturing that one. I like your crisp sharp focus on the fish. First thing I thought of when I saw it was the story of Jonah and the whale. And your lighting is really good too. Using the flash there really helped the image clarity.
I do things like that myself. Spontaneous action for fun!
This definitely fits the topic perfectly. Still laughing…..

Marie - Summertime(Steam Rally) and the living is easy(especially for 'some' photographers):

Now that is really cool! Love the old steam powered implements. That does look like it would be a lot of fun.
The steam everywhere really adds to the quality of the picture.
As always marie, great work from you.
Well done!

rpolitsr – Jurassic summer fun:

That’s quite the dinosaur there! It looks very real. It looks like everyone there is having a lot of fun at the park. I too very much enjoy going to these kinds of parks and looking at the displays of various things.
Great job on the clarity and focus of the subject! The detail is very sharp.
Looks like they are all having fun there.
Nice work Rafael!

Pwdieter – Trout Fishing:

Ahhh one of my enjoyable activities, trout fishing.
I am amazed at how good you got the detail and clarity exposed on this shot. Must have been hard to get the fish focused so clearly like that. Amazing detail! And the bokeh is fantastic too, something a bit hard to achieve with our G cameras.
What a great picture! Fishing is fun for sure!

As usual, it is hard to take so many great entries and only pick 3 to be listed for the winning entries. Sigh….

I waffled back and forth a bit, from Jims salmon swallowing his subject to the great shot of the flying kites to Maureens little grandson washing his trucks. But then the steam rally was really fun and so was the summer festival and rafaels Jurassic fun. And the fishing…. I stare at the pictures and feel like I am there in the action!

Hosting is always hard because you have to narrow down a whole lot of great photos to 3, then 1.

So, here we go:

#3 – Maureen – Backyard Car Wash

#2 – Raven - What says 'fun' more than being swallowed by a giant salmon!

#1 – Spoco57 – Fly a kite.

Take it away Spoco!

Great entries everyone!

all three are terrific . loved all . the salmon shot was so funny,
unusual and really enjoyable to see it,( I thought it was a whale) lol lol , and the little man with all his trucks getting washed is perfect . he has a lovely collection

a difficult one to judge from all the smashing entries.

Thanks Bob, and congrats to all the others. The commentary was great, and it must have been a tough job. I love the salmon and also the brown trout... that is just a stellar closeup. The steam engines... I could almost hear the noise and smell the smoke.

While on a bike journey, we happened across a kite flying contest in Port Colborne, Ontario. It was beautiful. And I wish I knew enough about photography to have done better... I took a lot of duds to get one right. Thanks for the nod. Now to figure out how to host!

Steve

It was nice to join back in the game. I just got back from a trip to CO where I got to chase lots of fish. I like to grab a fish shot now and then of my catch but holding the fish and camera often proved difficult and un productive. I now have CF1 & CF2 set for these shots with macro sevo focus av mode and one with fill flash and one without, works pretty well

Have fun

Thanks, Bob. So many good entries this week. Contrats to Spoco57 and Maureen. I would have had a difficult time judging this one!
I agree that kites trumped salmon. Excellent shot! I really liked Marie's tractor race too.

When this shot presented itself, I had to smile too. Instantly thought "Hannah and the Salmon" :-)
Fortunately, it had been dry for some time so no slime (or subject) was harmed in this shoot.
I know you can relate to our weather. In fact, I think it's even wetter in Vancouver et al than here.
