I have always found mine to have the sweet spot right at f2-2.2 which is pretty much right on with that test. Really an amazing lens.

I had this lens, sold it, and picked it up again about a year ago. My second copy was sharper and had MUCH less issue with PF in high contrast areas. I would guess it is no worse than any other 85mm prime as far as PF goes. Steve nailed it by saying "The money/performance ratio of this lens cannot be beat!" .

Summer fun at the lake.

I need to get that FoCal program, I was reading about that the other day...looks like a good program, and it would probably more accurately calibrate my lenses than my redneck setup...

I just got my 85 1.8 yesterday used after selling off my 135L to downgrade (need money for school tuition!).

Either way, glad to have it back again... Really enjoyed it prior. The money/performance ratio of this lens cannot be beat!

I was surprised when I ran the lens through FoCal though, how good this copy performed... I mean, maximum performance at f/2? Crazy! Usually with any fast prime there is quite a bit of a drop when it gets close to wide open.

Strange that you posted this...I was just about to ask in this thread if someone would post up some FoCal data. I've been debating the purchase of this lens but not sure how much longer I will hold out lol

I am really enjoying this FL. I just wish I could should wide open and get the same sharpness as I can get at 2.2.

You sold the 135L?? I don't think I could bring myself to do that.

Ha - that's interesting because I'm considering selling my 85 1.8 to fund a 135L...
