#40 says "We have his address" but doesn't say that the perp knows the OP has it. The police could have told the OP privately.

True but I still think it isn't a smart move to worry about protecting his address. He should worry more about losing his cash in the mail or having to pay twice.

And next time...NEVER EVER TURN YOUR BACK ON YOUR STUFF. I don't care if you think it's just for a minute...TAKE IT WITH YOU OR PUT IT AWAY WHERE YOU CAN GET IT.

Be glad you weren't in Philly, DC or Baltimore...you might have gotten shot for your trouble. Some of these kids have no redeeming social value. (And I grew up in Philly; there are still parts of West and North Philly I will not go; plus spent 2 1/2 years in the DC metro area. I learned at a very young age not to set things down and turn my back on them unless I wanted it to disappear).

I thought that was biologically impossible. But I guess if you had identical twins, eating exactly the same thing . . .

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.

"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Sending cash is proof that dumb people do dumb things. OP can always deny he's received the money and ask for it (again). I'm not implying he will.

I had his name and address the night we caught him. I wasnt to worried about getting the $$$$. I was surprised he sent cash in the mail. Not a smart move for anyone. But its all over with now. I love reading some of the reply's. Amazing how different we all are.

Next topic please

Hey, I live by a place called Serenbe that actually does have chairs out in the woods and in the tall grass. It's a town/neighborhood that is set up to be an organic farm with planned homes, planned shops, etc. and is open to the public. There are horses, barns, fields and more. Photographers love the place because there are chairs, rowboats, benches, swings, and more than are there for anyone to use. It's really cool.

So, maybe the lady really thought the chair was part of the park.

The lady wasn't an idiot, but the guys who took the chairs were certainly foolish. Even if the park installed rocking chairs in the tall grass, they would be wrong to take them, and wrong to smash them on a tree. Sounds like a couple of punks.

But, from now on you should change your screen name to The Chairman.

Thank you. bw!

I just vacationed in a Northern Michigan town where people do not lock their doors (there was no keys to any of the resort cabins either, all rentals were by recommendation).

Makes one rethink all that "middle of nowhere" attitude.

I am sure, though, that dumb teenagers exist everywhere.

Sounds to me as though you need to look after your property better, not just wander off and leave it.

Working as a Structural Engineer, the busted up into four pieces statement and being able to sit in the same chair just didn't sound right.

So funny. It doesn't take a structural engineer....

the guy had a bad day. 113 posts later and it was still a bad day.

I had a good day. Not going to post about it, I don't want to waste so much time.

Came back here after many months away. Yep, that's what I thought.

Yeah, that's deserved. I remember promising myself I wouldn't reply to any more photographer versus cop versus every reply with a differing opinion posts too and I did. It's our nature to stop and look at the wreck, and to be too busy to smell the roses. Instead of coming off all high and mighty I want to apologize for posting in a condescending way.

I think this is the message I really want to pass on: I am sorry this guy had a bad day and I hope it doesn't keep him or anyone else from going out and shooting in public places in the future. I came on here looking for information to answer a technical question, I found it, I lingered, I found more of the same thing I was getting caught up in myself back when I was on here every day and I reacted in a negative way. My personal choice was and is to spend less time on line and more time out in the parks smelling roses.

I hope this is a more positive reply received in a more positive light. Sorry everyone.

This thread is different from the norm in that the cops really were in the wrong. And, thankfully, are facing the consequences of their actions.

I think you had an oops moment and mixed this thread with another one.

This thread has good cops taking up the report after bad boy breaks privately owned chair.

But there was another thread recently, where two cops got abusive because they didn't like being photographed, and then decided to threaten to come and visit the photographer at the news paper.
