My photos got selected and published in the Victoria Times, August 2, 2013. I almost missed my 15mins of fame as the publisher forgot to inform me! Anyway, they did let me know this morning and I feeling bit puffed! :D

Congratulations ! Be sure to keep a copy of it. Did they give you a Byline? While it's true that nobody (other than photographers) reads the byline, it's proof that you were published, if anyone questions it.

Its always nice to see ones work being published. I have to ask, what did you receive for this. I notice that it says the photos were courtesy of you which leads me to believe that they didn't pay anything. It is nice that you got the credit in the article along with your website, hopefully this will generate some more requests for you.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

My thoughts exactly...
Photos in an advertising feature.
Probably said they don't have a budget to pay for photography (or similar words.)
Bet the advertisers didn't get free ads.

The publisher did give me credit and noted my website.

For the use of my photos I did agree to share without any compensation as this was for one of the charity event I support.

OK

Im Going to say Good for you for allowing them to use your photos for a charity that you support.

Now the Poo Poo of it all

Had it not been that this was something you allowed to use because you support a particular charity that the photos were used for I would be jumping down your throat for giving it away to a commercial publication.

Too many photographers "Give It Away" so they can say.. Im Published.. look at me:mad:

And in fact is total BS and its destroyed an industry. Corporations Dont have to pay a pro because the amateurs are giving it to them for free. So whats happening is that many lost there jobs and trades because amateurs will give it away for bragging rights

Bragging rights don't pay the bills

There is a great big picture that is not being looked at by people who want to brag that they have been published.

Sorry to POO POO on the publication. Had they paid you to use those photos i would be doing back flips for ya.

Destoyed an industry because of a free picture? Isn't this the way it is in anything in life? Some charge, some give it away? Not everyone thinks their poo don't stank.
