Not sure how this awesome lens went to the 3rd page. Anyone that says this is not a good lens for indoor low lighting is crazy. Took this at 11 pm last night at 3200 ISO after my son got home from celebrating with some friends at college. He got a football scholarship as a Wide Receiver. I couldn't be more happier and proud of him

Anyone understand how Canon's pricing works or if there's a way to know when things will be cheaper? Planned on buying my 70-200mm tomorrow after getting paid, yet the lens is now $709 compared to the $719 it was this past week.

I assume it changed on the first with the new month. Is there a way to understand how things will cost and what not with lenses or is it kind of a guess and miss game?

It varies,,,, I got mine here:

http://www.42photo.com …_usm_zoom_lens_(67mm).htm (external link)

$608 to you,, it's a grey market lens,, but if you pay with a credit card, that hardly matters.

What exactly is the difference? Are they made cheaper? Or just don't have a warranty?

A grey market lens or camera is just one that is from a non US market,, like Asia, or Europe. It's the exact same product,, but Canon won't honor grey market warranties and CPS won't touch them.

If you pay with a credit card,, you basically get a 12 month extended warranty (18 months or more with some cards).

I actually was able to get the lens from Amazon for the original $619. Made a complaint in a sense about it, and they gave me it for the original price the other day. I guess being an avid shopper from them helps, not to mention just buying a big screen TV the other day.

Thanks again for the help, I might use that site later for some camera bodies I plan to buy.

Not that greatest capture, but I had my 70-200 on the camera nearby and shot this guy through my kitchen sliding door when he showed up.

Little work I've done since acquiring this lens. Seems it's VERY sensitive to the amount of available light and how accurately it focuses. Unless that's my 60D.

Just got back from my extended vacation. Processing over 1000 photos, but this was early in the trip and I have processed some. This is one fantastic lens for action. We saw over 1000 dolphins on this one whale watching trip. Unfortunately, no whales sighted, but the dolphins were magnificent to see in those numbers.

Here is a great DOF shot with the 70-200. And this was a 1600 ISO, so I think it turned out pretty darn well.

Thanks Aqua. I still have to do some more editing to remove the gunk on the glass between us, but I liked the DOF in this shot.
