Question, does anyone find they 'benefit' from having a halfcase on the camera, or does it change the 'feel' of the camera in any way, for the better or other wise?

Yes: it's much more stylish :p. But I ended up removing mine as it a) made it a bit bulkier, which was a problem with my very small camera bag, and b) blocked the battery door, which was a PITA.

...it may have been asked but I will ask again for those who own the x100s! how is the autofocus performance for street shots, is it quick enough for people that are on the move or is it lacking like the canon mirror less camera? (this is all dependent on the lighting condition) I'm planning on buying one as soon as it is available again!

thanks !

AF is definitely not as fast as DSLR's but I find it fast enough for most street jobs. Obviously you might struggle to catch people sprinting around but that doesn't happen too often :p

That is a great little camera!

So, it's a good thing I picked up the x20 on a impulse buy before leaving the states a few months ago for a deployment. I was really looking forward to shooting the x100s during my day in Paris, but it decided to not power up anymore. Probably has at most 100 shots on it and I will probably have to send it all the way to Japan for repair since I picked it up in Tokyo when passing through there.

Something different than what I normally shoot.

Its here Its here!!!! Waiting on the brown truck makes for the loooooogest day eeeever ;) Greedily open boxes... realize I must charge batteries... or, at least 1

Installing software, I wonder to myself... I purchased new. Do I need to update the firmware on the camera and lenses anyway? (X-E1)

Probably, but you can easily check to see what the current firmware is on your body with the lens attached.

Me three. That first charge is the longest! Btw, I recommend the Wasabi kit on Amazon. Two batteries and a charger with prongs built in.

Yeap!! specially in the first few weeks where you are likely to chimp a lot. It doesn't last that long at all.
