Camera under $200?

I am a DSLR shooter, but I had a friend asking for advice on a new camera in the sub-$200 range. She doesn't want a DSLR, but a P&S of some sort. What do you think the best value is right now, Canon or otherwise?

yes.



i'm a fan of the canon SX series of cameras. your friend needs to decide if they want a "pocketable" camera then start looking at the features.

haha, I of course am partial to Canon as well. I know her last camera was not a real small compact, but one that sort of looks like a mini-SLR. I don't think she has much preference whether the new one is or not though.

as you can see at the link, canon positions the SX series as a more affordable "high end" point and shoot. I bought a SX100 series for my mom probably 5 years ago and it has been a great camera. It is actually pretty dang small.

iphone (or other) are quickly becoming the point and shoot option for a lot of folks
