Nice shots Nodal. Did you stretch the Green Heron's neck out in Photoshop? Just kidding of course. Very few images have an outstretched neck. Kudos.

Fun to watch them extend the neck out. You wonder where he puts it all.

Been following this thread on and off for awhile. Just got the courage to take my camera/lens out on a trip today. Went out to Skokie Lagoons just north of Chicago.

Kinda nervous as there is the possibility I walk away with over $3K in damaged equipment. Luckily no issues at all and I'm planning on doing this more often, the opportunities and shots available makes the risk definitely worth it. Definitely some great shots and ideas in here. Here are a few of mine, just wished I could have gotten the sun to peak from behind the clouds a bit.

Nice pics Jelloneck. Looks like you had some calm water anyway. You might look into an adder to your homeowner's insurance policy, if you have it, on your equipment. I haven't done it yet but I'm going to look into it. What kind of boat are you using?

Just my curiosity. Is the term "boat" in general usage in the USA/Canada? Australia/UK generally uses the term "yak"

I should have used the term yak or kayak in this thread. Boat might be a bit generic. I always thought that a kayak was a type of boat.

OK. It's just that I've seen the term boat used many times, even in online magazines, and I just wondered if that was the most used term. I didn't want to be talking about my "yak" to someone (overseas) and have them think that I was talking about Tibetan cattle :o

Thanks nodal, I'm using a Dagger Zydeco right now. Works alright but its only about 9 feet. Planning on getting a longer touring model in the next couple years. I've used the term boat on occasion but yak or kayak if I am being specific as to what type.

Nice shot Mountaindog. I did a raft trip down Green River awhile back but I didn't see much wildlife. The rapids would be a challenge to wildlife photography.
