Yes, Apollo knock offs.

My logic, not tested empirically for validity, is to get the flash tube in the center of the modifier. Considering the shape of most of the modifiers I have that means keeping it relatively close to the stretcher frame locking collar since the arms extending out tend to define the center of the rib's flex. Its an imprecise attempt to get the flash tube at the reflective center of the modifier.

Thank you for the clarification. I will have to try both.

I just picked up some TT1/5's. Still trying to tweak the HSS timing to see what I get. Mixed results so far with regards to full sync and better output than Kings/622. I'll report back once I have something up and running along with a review on how well the Sekonic works in the mix

Very interested to hear if any more people are getting good HSS results just placing the CL-TX directly on top of a TT1 (or TT5) on camera, no PocketWizard receiver used.

Though I would share an image I shot yesterday using the CL-360 + CL 160 and Cells Ilc. I used the Cheetah 50x50 soft box with the CL-360 inside for the key light. The rim light was a CL 160 with standard reflector. HSS mode was used. The CL-360 was set to 1/2 power. The CL 160 was set to 1/4 power. Camera was a 5D III. Lens was a 135L.

I too am interested in this.
If it works ok, I might be able to use the Sekonic L-478DR built in PW triggering.

That's really nice Jim.

I had an interesting situation yesterday. Bright sun coming into the ballroom via floor to ceiling windows. Couple wanted to see the city. CL-360 in 30" umbrella octa did the trick.

Not as nice as a bride in the garden but got the job done.

Jim and Jesus excellent photos. Love seeing the work.

Elv - I don't think HSS worked with CL-Tx on a 622 either. Anything X-Sync and under works great with that setup though. Maybe I'm wrong.

Damian - Yes the Sekonic triggers the PW no problem. It also recognizes groups properly. Here's what I'm trying to configure with the Control TL on the meter:
- ABC groups are TTL lights using TT5s.
- Plus III's are group D and setup as simple triggers.
- The meter however should be able to flip between the "std" and "ttl" channels allowing me to have 4 separate groups.
- The Plus III's are triggering the Cheetahs obviously. This improves upon the Odin or King Pro setup where you'd be limited to 3 groups.
- So far this has worked allowing a quick "on/off" option as I go around metering and choosing which groups are active.
- I think I can quickly activate/deactivate groups this way without adjusting the AC3 and create alternate speedlight arrangements on the fly (for example, the reception room shifts and my key becomes fill, vice versa, reverse rim for flipping the room and so forth).

I'll post more feedback tomorrow. I have to try out the new Luna 43" and 28" boxes too which just arrived. I love our 19" Cheetah BD's.

Also, just want to say I never had the AC5 or hotshoe RF reducer with my TT5s before. My 580's now fire further than when they had 622's by a long shot with respect to obstructions. I went down the hall in the studio about 150ft through 2 glass doors and still had perfect HSS sync. The 622's choked about 3/4 down the same hall and never could have mustered a second door. It's a pain wearing the sock but man do they work.

I miss the AF light dearly though.

Thanks, yes, I don't think the CL-Tx will work in HSS directly on the pass through hotshoes like the King Pro, YN-622 etc. I'm surprised it would work on the TT1, but there do appear to be some people at least getting some results above X-sync, that wouldn't be possible otherwise. Just no one has reported really trying to put it to the test to get the most out of it with adjusting timing etc (if that is still possible).

Thanks for the desecription with light meter and AC3, that's excellent.

That is correct, I couldn't get HSS using CL-Tx on the YN-622C pass through. I also couldn't get the Cells II C to work on the pass through hot shoe.

I'm using the same PW firmware/ControlTL settings that I sent you last time to get HSS working on your D700 with the Cheetah Lights. I will try to do some more test today and post my results. I also just picked up some more FlexTT5's to play with.
