Funny, happens about the same time that Corel releases the 64bit paintshop pro X6.

I've been using it since Jasc PSP 6. Not much you can do in Photoshop that you can't in PSP. I have X5, and will probably have X6 soon as the price will come down to $59 for ultimate soon.

This is still ridiculous. They're just trying to cover their backsides with the stupid subscription plan. I guess my previous versions of Adobe are the last for me.

I think this is a very good value for those that use Lightroom and Photoshop. I've been a big fan of Lightroom right from the start, so to keep both software programs at the most current release for just 120.00 per year seems like it will attract a large number photographers that were balking at the original monthly cost.

But only the ones that currently have PS CS3 and above. The $19.99 a month for non upgrade isn't worth it to me. LR stand alone is reasonable enough to continue to just upgrade.

the reason that they went to a subscription, is that too many people were pirating the programs (new console video games are going to this as well). I don't blame them for wanting to make sure people actually pay for there service. I am a student so I will just go the hole creative suite for the 20 bucks a month.

I never researched it, but read the day after CC went live it was already hacked and available for free somehow. And if they're half smart, they calculate the pirated loss into the price anyway. Many that pirate PS could/would never buy it anyway. Just like any store in town calculates theft into what they need to charge the honest rest of us.
with games I think MS and Sony etc want to drain the used market off used games too.

I'd sign up today if I would end up with what ever my last version is once I stop paying. I just can't get comfortable with a subscription for life.

Ok, so if this is saving them from pirating losses why aren't they passing on some of those savings to us by offering it to everyone for $10/mo. lifetime? It's only $10/mo. if you own a copy of CS3 and above. The $20/mo. plan requires you to shell out the full $240 at once for a 1 year subscription. If you can't afford that, or don't want a 1 year commitment then it's $29/mo. for a month to month license.

You are correct. You will go into "the hole" going the subscription rate. Google Piratebay. Search for Adobe Photoshop CC. It was pirated the vey day the cloud came to life.

Yes, if I didn't already have CS3 then I would not be so happy with this new offering. I think it would be great if they offered 10.00 per month to everyone that only needs lightroom and photoshop.

Does anyone know if this deal includes Student versions? I have LR3 full version and CS5 Student. I'm assuming it probably doesn't...

It won't. They do have a $20 education plan for the whole suite subscription, though.

I would think it does since the student version is just a discounted price and doesn't "expire" after you're no longer a student. It's the same version as the retail and you have a valid key.

Does anyone know if you get to keep the student price after graduating? Probably a dumb question since I assume they do, especially since the whole CC program is new, but do they check your status after you graduate?

I'm doing a grad degree part-time, so I qualify for student pricing now. It'd be worth it to me for $20/mo for a cloud subscription, but not if the price jumps a year from now; I'd rather just buy lightroom 5 and live without having photoshop on my PC if the price is going to jump after graduating.
