I'm sure he doesn't have it mounted while going down the highway at 70+mph. Just has it mounted while putt putting at his birding location. Even though if he does have it mounted while on a normal road, I'd love to see the cops face if he was to get pulled over.

good point....

I have G.A.S.

This works for me. Great for shooting wildlife from my truck.

^^^^^

That looks like a good solid rig. I have a window mount that I used more with my 300 f/2.8 but I prefer the bean bag with my 500.

Obviously there is no perfect set up for all situations.

I use a bean bag on the drivers side which works great, but need a rig like the OP's to shoot out of the passenger side.

Everyday use: 7D2, 1.4x v3 Canon TC (sometimes the 2x v2 Canon TC), Canon 500mm f4 L IS USM; 6D, 24-105L

Well, you need a camera to document in case some other driver does something stupid :p

Unless it's a hit-and-run, the 500 may be just a trifle excessive.

No - you want to be able to show the court the pattern of his iris (captured in the rear view mirror of the other car as it was running away) so he can't claim it must have been someone else who was driving the car. It's all in the details :p
