The reason I am more of lurker than poster is because of people's arrogance and intolerance towards others. Not to me personally, but to those with basic questions, entry level skills, varying interests etc. Most people on the boards are friendly and supportive, but there are a lot who aren't.

So my biggest pet peeve is this intolerance. I come to the boards to learn, share my love of the art, etc. Not to hear elitists and people who claim to be experts belittle the less experienced. All the while, their portfolio looks very average. An artist is an artist with a pencil or CAD. The greats didn't have 24 megapixel, auto focusing beasts of cameras. But their work is eternal.

I know I am venting. But, isn't that the reason for the post? :)

Welcome everyone and share your knowledge. Enjoy photography together. But, don't feed the trolls.

The intruder who walked between me and the ducks when I had just pressed the button.

I hate this too. I was using my Polaroid SX-70 at a race this past weekend, and had to get a fair distance away from something I wanted I picture of. No one realized I was trying to take a picture and kept walking into my shot. If they ruin my shot with that, they better pay up for the exposure.

People taking photos with an iPad.. I always laugh out loud because of how stupid it looks, but does it ever get on my nerves!

Photographers moaning about their photographs not being valued, or moaning about the state of the industry. It is like a broken record.

gear list, people seriously need to list everything they own, including memory cards or having a list within a list!!! ie: current and sold equipment - how sad!!!

i guess they want people to take their comment/s seriously, because we all know your comments are worthless if your gear is less than superior!

Getting the gear out under diffused light and then the sun suddenly decides to come out blinding everything in its path.

I own a DSLR, some lenses and some lights.

I don't know. I mean I definitely see your point, but sometimes people ask for advice on various things and it's hard to answer when you don't even know what they're shooting with. "Halp, blurry pictures in low light!" is a bit difficult to narrow down until you know they don't have a flash or a lens faster than f/5.6. On the other hand, there is such a thing as taking it too far; I really don't care that such and such has a Manfrotto tripod with RRS ball head and a Lowepro bag.

It's really more of a forum pet peeve than a photography pet peeve though.

As for me, it really grinds my gears when another photographer steps in right in front of me when I'm obviously framing a shot, camera to the eye and all. From a non-photographer, it annoys me too but I can see how everyone doesn't necessarily pay attention - but come on dude, you're taking pictures just like me and you obviously know what I was doing, so why the douchebaggery?

I actually don't think I've heard much discussion about megapixels for a couple years now. I think the general public started to realize that all of the cameras on the market had 'plenty' of pixels around that time and they came to look at other features.

That and they all shoot everything with their cell phones now anyway.

This is a big one IMHO. I understand getting mad at people for not using the search function, but at the same time I feel like some people get a little too upset over it. Especially after a forum has been around for a few years and has a ton of traffic, because then just about everything (except breaking news stories, sales, and new releases) is a bit of a repost anyway.

People moaning constantly about the terms of service for free services which they are not forced to use... Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook etc. Don't like it, don't use it.

Hmm...rather than getting ticked off at John Q. Public for showing an interest in the "megapixels", try getting ticked off at the camera makers and marketing for feeding that interest:)
