My wife decided that she wanted some maternity-ish photos, with both of us in them....

so... I brought out the trusty Gitzo and wired remote, and set up some shots yesterday....

C&C always appreciated.

It was nice to just go out and take some fun shots... no client to worry about... no list of things that they want... just out there having fun with my wife...

This one, we were actually spinning... that's why we both have giddy looks on our faces...

What kind of wired remote did you use? Did you clone it out?

I've got one like so: http://www.google.com …AGlr4GICw&ved=0CHMQ8wIwAg (external link)

So, there was no cloning it out... it stays on the tripod, velcro'd to the leg...

I set a delay, and go get into the shot... works much like the in-camera timer, but I can also set a duration... so, for the swing shots, I set a 15 second delay, with a 2 second duration, and left the camera in high speed burst.. so basically, after the 15 second delay, the remote kept the shutter button down for two seconds, giving me a burst of shots, instead of a single shot.... for self-portrait type stuff when you'll be moving, it's much easier to do a quick burst on the tripod than try to time it just perfectly.

Thanks. I was going to ask how much of a delay you had but you answered my question. Cool that you have 15 seconds with the cable release. My camera's built-in timer gives me 10 seconds max.

Thanks Mike!

There were a lot of things that could have been done better/differently, but when I'm doing the setup and shooting myself, as well as being in the photos, I tend to focus more on just getting a "usable" shot... We had fun with it.
