I have been hired as the full time Photographer for a Local Magazine well at least details to be sorted out at the end of this Month , and one of the owners asked me if I needed another Lens as I guess his printers said they needed sharper pictures , I told him the 24-70 f4 may be the ticket based on price over the f2.8 version , I wanted to know how it performs on the 7D .

Oh and as to why I chose that lens my Tammy 70-50 mm while a great Lens and my go to now it's broken the zoom ring will not engage I have been using it as a push and pul for a long time and with this assignment I don't want it to fall apart on me .

Thank You

David

I would ask for a 17-55 if the paper is fronting the bill or buy a Sigma 17-50 if it's on you. Or even a 24-105 for half the cost of the 24-70/4 if you knew that you didn't need the wide angle.

Agreed re. the 17-55. I wouldn't find 24mm wide enough on a crop for general work. Heck, my 15-85 isn't wide enough frequently.

Dedicated APS-c shooter. Gripped 60D, 60 2.8, 10-22, 15-85, Σ70-200 OS and a big white something or other! Plus a 5D w/28-75.

Ah yes the wide end did not think about that , Hopefully if I need wide My Siggy 10 or if the Tammy 17-50 stays together I should be Okay or now thinking about it My buddy has a 5Dc that I can use any time and put the 24-70mm on that what I will do is put my 17-50 at 24mm and see how I like it at that focal length .

The Canon 17-55 was the sharpest lens I ever used on a crop. And looks like you have a 70-200 for telephoto. If they're payin, that's what I'd get!
