So i picked up a second hand XE-1 off here with the 35 1.4 , so far i am stunned how sharp this thing is compared to my 7d with budget glass. Another reason i made the switch is i am planning on taking a trip to alaska soon and do not want to be lugging around a big dslr. Im going to have my hands full with a 2 year old running around lol.

I cant wait to get a wider lens and spend some more time snapping photos. Only downside is battery life so far.

So I only had LR2 & CS5, I DL LR5 to play with the XE-1 RAW files... I cannot say I am *improving* on what the SOOC jpgs are already... Is this what everyone else is finding? Or am I completely batty/blind? I mean I 'see' a 'slight' shift that I can make in highlights... but the over all image... is no different.

nothing fancy pic... in the LR5 pic, in LR5 I removed my kitties eye boogies.

The jpegs from Fuji are really amazing. Having said that, there generally isn't much difference between an out-of-camera RAW and an OOC jpeg. In fact the jpeg is usually better looking depending on the camera jpeg settings. What RAW offers is the power to adjust the image yourself in ways where a jpeg image would fall apart.

Yeah, try taking a shot that really pushes the dynamic range, and you can see the benefits of post processing with RAW. Highlight recovery is especially wonderful.
