Basic Canon POTN forum etiquette:
This is the Astronomy and Celestial 'Photo Sharing' section, please put pure Astronomy and Celestial talk in the "Talk" section.

Yet I've seen so many posts in this photo sharing section that is purely Q&A.

The sticky in the "Talk" section " Astro Technique How-To's" will answer most of those.

Wow.... I love these self appointed Forum police. They spend more time complaining about a post than it would take to answer the post, Unless they just don't have an answer.

Mike is simply doing a community service, a friendly reminder. Certainly no grounds for an attack.

Bill - you've not been in this forum much, I've literally answered 100's of post in both sections.....do a search on "mtbdudex".
Sure, there is lots of good talk in photo sharing posts - heck that's the power of forums and why we engage in them, but I've recently noticed some post away Q&A in the photo sharing section w/o an image, and 95% of the time their answer is in the talk section sticky.

Honestly, this Astronomy and Celestial forum is probably one of the most technical ones, quite different from the "take a picture and share for C&C" other photo sharing forums here.
These Astronomy and Celestial images need specific techniques, more so than most of the other sections.
(yea, that can open a flame war on strobes/lighting/etc, let's not go there as I understand each photography grouping has it's challenges and techniques)

The POTN forum was purposely set-up with 2 sections, 1 for photo sharing and 1 for talk.
I'm just reminding people, ha too busy to truly be a forum police/cop, no way!

Steve - I give people the benefit of doubt here.

Mike, It's good to see that you've included a picture in your second post. :)

SteveInNZ,
Yea-but that's not an "astro-photo", so I'm "breaking the guidelines"....
So here's the very beginning of my Astronomy and Celestial "journey", capturing the ISS with my family nearly 4 years ago

And the obligatory Heavens-Above plot

I'm totally amazed at the talent here, and the hard work and perseverance of so many to capture such beautiful images.
Clear skies to all!

Even if this post were a sticky no one would see it or click on it. There's a direct link to the "Discuss Astronomy and Celestial Photography" talk section right on top of the "Photo Sharing" page in plane view and yet there's still questions without sharing photos being posted in this forum.
Don't fight it, it'll make you crazy.

just a thread bump for the new people to post pure talk/discussion in that forum.
I've used the report button a few times here and there and the mods are excellent at moving those threads to the talk section.

and ... here's a pict to keep in the spirit of this being in the photo sharing section....
Big Dipper watching over our one of my backyard movie gathering. Now, this is a 20 second time exposure, people were not aware I took this and kept pretty still.
