Hey alls 3 weekends ago this happened since then I've been back to the same spot and photographed several different flights by Eagles at this same spot but have not had the light and in position like I was for this right here.

I spoke about it on my website here and wrote a write up on how it happen, its a quick read if you want to read it.

I made a flickr slideshow for the 39 pics I processed of the flight here
http://www.flickr.com …8/sets/72157635234347960/ (external link)

and here's 3 of my favs from the day, these were with my 50D and 100-400 man sure wish I had a fullframe camera and had more shutterspeed for these. but still pleased with these and like I said in my review it was indeed a special moment seeing this for the first time in person. looking forward to more encounters with the American Icon

Congrats on some fine shots. You're right, good light means everything when shooting eagles in particular, with the extreme color differences from white head to dark body. Keep on going there, you'll get more! Don't forget, if you get a full frame camera, then you'll want a longer lens!

first off thanks all for the nice replies :)

and thanks yeah for sure will be going back until they stop flying this route :) and yeah on the FF and losing the length but I'm just tired of dealing with noise. I am renting a 5DII for a two week vacation this fall. mainly will have that setup with my landscape lense, will shoot portraits and stuff but when I'm out and about my 7D will most likely have the long lense's on looking for birds and wildlife. maybe I'll be lucky or fast enough to throw the 5DII for some cool BIF's

Great photo's...especially where the bird is looking at you. BTW, it's not an American Eagle...but a Bald Eagle.
