When you search google with a phrase such as "best hdr software" Machinery doesn't even come up on the radar. And articles about HDR software which do such as Top 10 Best HDR Software Review 2013 (external link) don't mention Machinery in the ten listed, which is significant when you note the articles do list, and rate, free programs such as Picturenaut above Machinery.

Machinery isn't on the list because the test's author did not receive a license from me.
I downloaded the source images from the test and processed them using Machinery. In my opinion the effect is much better than that of the tested programs.

That was but one example quickly given. I ran across many articles speaking about HDR programs that did not list Machinery. When I have time I will list more.

Plus, that article is not the cause of Machinery not showing up on a google search for "best hdr software". But Machinery's lack of popularity and following are, and the reason it is not mentioned in many articles about HDR processing.

I for one couldn't care less if it makes any "best HDR software" list.....I've had excellent results with it and find it reasonably priced. Some may not like to pay for upgrades every year but a lot of software companies are starting to adopt this model.

But many people do. The economy is tight. Money is tight for many, and they want their purchases to be worthy of the money spent. They read reviews and consider them in their choice-making process.

On the other hand, the larger issue with Machinery HDR is poorly-working and missing features. One thing apparently missing is the ability to save 32-bit files.

The align feature has been reported to work poorly, but more important than that is there is no anti-ghosting feature. If you look back in this thread, it was promised to come "soon" (just like the Mac version). That was long ago. It never did.

Anti-ghosting is a very important feature to some. If you are actually doing real HDRs (not fake 1-shot LDRs masquerading as HDR), and using multiple files it can be mandatory. Anybody who shoots outdoors (and many do HDR landscapes) knows that. Stuff moves. Leaves on trees, bushes, people, places and things. Until the features necessary to do a good job at landscape HDRs is added, Machinery, IMHO, cannot be seriously considered.

I would send an email to the developer and explain what's happened and see if they're willing to send you another licence key. If you send them the key you're trying to use they might be able to rescind that and assign you a new one.

@Marecki32
Hope you can upload a video tutorial at youtube, even just the basics. That would be great and exposure for the program as well.

Yes, I've seen that, but I'm partial to having documentation that can I can store and read from my tablets.
