Good work! Your processing is just fine, too. Some of the images in this thread are way over-processed, IMO, so that they venture into the surreal. Yours are just right. The skill is to know when to stop. :)

There are one or two darker places if you travel out a little bit. Maybe Tunbridge Wells way looks not bad.

And you'll have a better chance if the MW is facing east/west as you'll have less pollution in that direction. Google for Stellarium for when that's likely to be.

You might be able to pull a bit more out of your picture with post processing but yes us southerners (I'm in Oxford) have a tough one on places nearby that are easy to get to and give you a half a chance of a decent picture.
