but he has such pretty eyes. I didn't notice that before.
So, what trouble did he get himself into? Our cats have their own column in the spreadsheet and it comes out to about $5k a year. I could buy a really nice lens if I just open the doors and let the coyotes have a nice meal....
I guess I'll go to work tomorrow instead.

He sure is pretty and those eyes... ♥

And yes sometimes they can be expensive. One of my Angels Stapper* had to have an thyroid gland treatment, I was saving for a 100-400. But I decided he needed the money more than me... He got to live two more years before he died of FIB :(.
But I still think the money was well spend. (I never bought the 100-400)

Thanks for the complement on his behalf...he has had issues with crystals blocking flow of urine. On special diet now...hopefully he's out of the woods...

Thanks, Misty. I complain, tongue-in-cheek, but I'm the biggest cat lover in the world...

Oh crystals, Stapper had those too. Never had issues with that after a visit to the vet and the diet. I hope your beauty stays crystal free too....

My girls, they go to a cat hotel for the first time (Sunday), while mummy goes on a well deserved WET vacation. :)

Charlie...shot with 85mm prime, natural light in the house, he just returned from several days in the hospital. For the cost of vet bills, I could buy four of these lenses...

I guess I got out cheap with Leia's disrupted joint. It cost me "only" around a 100mm macro, not even the "L" one.

I wish all the best for Charlie, he's one handsome cat. I hope he will be alright.

Sandra, great photos as always. Looks that you won't be needing a plumber in the foreseeable future.

Love it. If there were horror movies for cats, with claws like that, he could easily play Ziggy Krueger role ;)

wow....

Charlie is one fine looking cat! those are majestic looking eyes!!

well done images Russ

I am not a vet, but as a human doctor, I know a LOT about crystals/stones in human's urinary tract. so tell me what type crystals they were (calcium, uric acid, oxalate, etc)

and even when follow the right diet, you can still get crystals with lack of hydration and excessive water loss due to heat. For humans, I recommend a LOT of water during the summer to dilute the urine, making crystals less likely to form. I have dogs, not cats, but what I would do for a dog would be give them ice, they love that, even if not thirsty. Don't know about cats but best of luck

I don't know about you guys, but my vet went to work for PetSmart, and they have an "insurance" plan (severals levels) and the one I got cost $25/month per pet and you can see the vet any time you want at no charge, get 10% off of food and most other PetSmart purchases, medicines and labs and vaccines are either included or significantly discounted. Has saved me a bundle

all the best for Charlie

I never checked out the vet associated with Petsmart, but that sounds like a pretty decent deal considering most of my visits are well over 100 or so.

One of our cats fought and got bitten by another cat and is on antibiotics, he has 40°C fever... There is not a single week without one of them having some issue... Well that's how it's supposed to be with outdoor cats I guess :p
