...BUT, with a new take!

Shot a dance festival on Sept 1st, and aside from the usual kimono-clad ladies, these two added something more western....which was funky.

The lighting was hideous, so I was very pleased with the 6D's sensor - the full size files which the clients received, are REALLY clean!

Regards,

Simon

Good to hear in these conditions the 6D stood up! I just got the 6D and haven't pushed it in low light yet... Waiting for the opportunity.

as for the images, I prefer the first one for the woman's pose, eyes closed (or looking down) just below the brim of the hat, nice contrast.

I lived in tokyo for a while and didn't see much modern dance such as this. Cool stuff!

Hey Andy, thanks for the comment.

I recall you mentioning Tokyo before....I was up there last week shooting a concert. So(!) different there to down here in the south.

As to the pics, yeah, me too.
Though I must admit, the lady on the left is a very good friend of mine, so maybe I put more effort into her shots!

Regards for now,

Simon

These are nice studio-style (not sure if they're studio or a performance) images, especially the first, there's a sense of delicacy and dignity to them ... it would be nice to see more to get a context of the performance.

I think I like the second one more - it's a little more appealing due to the colour.

My website has my most recent work - macro photography (external link), live music photography (external link) and am working on a book focusing on Brisbane live music (external link) as my way of giving back.
I also have some photography tips (external link) for those with new cameras.

These were shot during the dance performances!
It was hideous lighting, and a medium-sized venue, so I was shooting the 6D plus 70-200L. I do have a few hundred more processed pics (which went to each performer), but I rarely post paid-for gigs in here......sorry.

Nicely done - they almost look as if they were studio shots!

When you say hideous was there too much light? They seem to be a bit on the hot side losing details in the face on the first one. If there was too much light a faster shutter can take care of most of that so I'm confused. I really like the composure of the first shot and the exposure of the second.

Wow, a thread from 4 years ago!
Thanks for the comment.
If memory serves, there was a complete hodge-podge of tungsten, florescent, and spotlights. And the organisers had lights going up and down!

I didn't notice the date. I saw this post after it was revived by a comment giving it a bump. Still great shots after all these years...

Well you know what the Best Camera is don't you? It's the one you have with you! From what I've seen these cameras can do some amazing stuff. Glad to see you back...
