Nobody is eating Canon's lunch. They are fighting over the scraps that are left over after Canon and Nikon finish eating.

Not yet, but if the mirrorless cameras grow the way some people here think they will, Canon and Nikon better have solid entries, or they will lose business.

Gripped 7D, gripped, full-spectrum modfied T1i (500D), SX50HS, A2E film body, Tamzooka (150-600), Tamron 90mm/2.8 VC (ver 2), Tamron 18-270 VC, Canon FD 100 f/4.0 macro, Canon 24-105 f/4L,Canon EF 200 f/2.8LII, Canon 85 f/1.8, Tamron Adaptall 2 90mmf/2.5 Macro, Tokina 11-16, Canon EX-430 flash, Vivitar DF-383 flash, Astro-Tech AT6RC and Celestron NexStar 102 GT telescopes, various other semi-crappy manual lenses and stuff.

You gotta be kidding. In the mirror less segment the only way Canon could shift their M was to practically give it away.......... I know more people who are shooting mirror less than DSLRs. They may be shooting in green box with built in flash, but they are customers and its a market Canon would do well to take seriously.

Profits and cameras sold over the past couple of years tell a different story. And I didn't mean Canon was winning with the M. Canon sells a lot more sub $1000 DSLRs than the all the mirrorless camera bodies from every brand. Lots more.

For the moment, anyway...

Trends aren't heading in that direction for the future, either.

There's no questioning your facts, you are 100% correct. However, surely mirror less is the immediate future of photography. Smaller/lighter camera and lens, who wouldn't want that if IQ and AF doesn't suffer. Canon is at present floundering in this segment.
I worked for Sony when they underestimated the first LCD TV's. They considered their Trinitron tube so superior to the competition, they ignored them. RESULT - Redundancy for me and hundreds of others.......... I'm waiting on these FF's with curiosity, they could replace my interest of a 7D2 of which I'm sick of waiting for...............

Yup. This and the EF lens converter is shaping up for some major excitement.

Any chance they'll be in stores by the start of December, in time for me to take one to South America?

I've been trying to find out from various manufacturers whether their current EF-to-NEX adapters should work with the full-frame version...

You can also get speedbooster adapters that have AF, make your lenses 0.7x wider and give 1 stop more light:

By definition, these would also make the image circle smaller - probably not much use for full-frame.

Imagine if you could have an electro-optical mirror where you could make it reflect or transmit light just by changing the current applied to a thin film on the mirror surface. That would be a game changer.

And I'd love one in my 5D3.

that would certainly make it a better camera, if only they could shrink it down a bit as well...
